A Much-Loved Destination

31 Cliff Edge is a perfect base; you’ve got over a mile of great beaches on your doorstep; at low tide you can walk along Lusty Glaze, Tolcarne beach, Great Western (blue flag beach), Towan beach, all the way to Newquay’s historic Harbour, exploring rock pools and caves.

You’re just a 6 minute walk from Newquay train station with regular trains to many of Cornwall’s much-loved destinations and connections across the UK.  For visitors looking to fly, Newquay Airport is just a 15 minute taxi ride.

Eating In, Dining Out

If you fancy cooking up a storm in the well-equipped kitchen and looking for food, ingredients, and supplies there’s a Tesco Express just a 4minute walk up Narrowcliff Road and multiple supermarkets in Newquay town.  There’s plenty for fresh produce available from shops in Newquay, from freshly baked artisan bread to freshly caught seafood, and not forgetting great Cornish pasties.

If you’d rather eat out Newquay town centre is just a 10minute walk where you’ll find great places to eat from Pizza Express, local eateries, to fine dining, and if you don’t want to travel too far there’s the Tolcarne Beach hotel Colonial Restaurant at the foot of the cliff immediately in front of the apartment.

We can’t list every great place to eat and would recommend you hit Google (other search engines are available), but to get you started; there’s the Fern Pit Café & Ferry for light bites and fresh crab & lobster.

For a truly special meal there’s Paul Ainsworth at No 6 (MICHELIN Star restaurant).

Further afield, Cornwall has some amazing and award-winning restaurants including 33 Michelin star and recommended restaurants. Booking well in advance is recommended.

For Surfers

You’ve come to the right place.  Newquay is the UK’s surfing capital, and the famous Fistral Beach is just 2 miles away.  Facing west, straight into the Atlantic, Fistral picks up more swell than any other beach in the area and for the accomplished surfer there’s ‘The Cribbar’ where, when conditions are right, wave faces reach 30ft (9.1m).  If you just want to watch, Fistral beach is a long family-friendly, sandy beach with lifeguards on patrol and lots of facilities.  Good parking, shops, and cafés.

For Golfers

Cornwall has some of England’s best courses including:  St Enodoc with two links courses  set in towering sand dunes, Trevose Golf Club, is just 12miles drive and considered to be one of the finest Links courses in the UK, and Newquay Golf Club is just a 5minute drive away with great views across Fistral Beach.  If you want to play on any Golf course during your stay we would recommend booking well in advance (weeks or months in advance).

For Heritage & History

Cornwall is a treasure trove:  Located just outside of Newquay is Trevelgue Head, one of Cornwall’s finest ancient monuments and the site of an Iron-Age fort.

Travelling further you can visit Pendennis Castle, Henry VIII’s costal fortress, the Minack Theatre, Truro Cathedral, Tintagel Castle and the King Arthur legend, and St Michael’s Mount to name just a few places to visit.

Coastal Walks

Coastal Walks in Cornwall offer some amazing views and a chance to walk off those Cornish pasties and increase your step-count; whether you want to potter along in your sliders, get in a bit of cardio-exercise, or you’re a seasoned rambler, there’s plenty of paths to choose from.

If you want to combine great views, legendary Kings and ancient grandeur there’s the 5.5mile walk through a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty between the fishing village of Boscastle and Tintagel.

The path will test your legs and get your heart pumping, but you’ll be rewarded with some great views.

You can catch your breath at the ancient burial ground, complete with Bonze-age tumuli, at Willapark, and then it’s not far to the breath-taking ruins of Tintagel, the legendary birthplace of King Arthur.  You can wander over the incredible bridge and if you can manage another short climb, clamber down to the beach to see Merlin’s cave.  Don’t forget to save some energy to walk back to your car.
